Veronique by VApothecary

It's in a red glass vial so I can't tell what color the oil is.

In the vial: Musky,  jazzy floral. Almost like a man's cologne but not manly. LOL

On the hand: Same smell as in the vial but more vibrant and floral. Musk somewhat hidden at this point. I'm liking it a lot. Maybe a pinch of citrus that's makes it seem like cologne? Don't know. Roses. A sharp flower. Like carnation. Maybe lavender. This would be great on men and women both.

Drying: I'm huffing on this so much to figure out what's in this that I'm getting light headed. snort
Less sharp now. More florally. Getting a bit more feminine. Still okay for men tho. Very hard to describe.
What's in this? (hope I can find a scent description)

Nope I can't. VApothecary is down from 6-1 to 8-2 on Nocturne Alchemy. BAH! Even googling I can't find a description.

The scent has gotten even better as it melts into my skin. It's on my right hand and even with my hand on the mouse as I was searching the net I could smell it. It's complex. Musky, slightly sharp (in a good way), spicy, fruity and florally. Loving it! Big bottle winner if I can find one....
Maybe someday I can come back with the description.......

Got it!! I had to sign up for their forum to find it! Yay! I am Cattastroficka on the forum too.

Veronique: Black Plumeria, Blood Musk, Black Clove, White Peppercorn and Extract of Ladanifer Rockrose

Woot woot! I got the musk and rose correct. I think the clove is the sharpness. I love clove. I use it a lot in cooking.

Now that an hour or so has passed, this scent is marvelous!  I hope I can find some somewhere because I want more.

HELLFIRE!!!!

Don't worry, it's a bpal I'm ready to review.

Almost clear in color, just the slightest yellow. Floral in the vial. Subtly bitter or acidic, but not much. Kinda get that Dr. Pepper smell.

Mediocre on the hand. At first. Then it brightens as it sits. Slighty minty, all florally. Like smelling a piece of gum. It's getting more minty the longer it's on. Somewhat leathery too.

4 min: The floral is almost gone now. It's all mint now. I think I like it. Missy, you'd like it too.

What's in this?  A scent celebrating Sir Francis Dashwood's Order of the Knights of St. Francis of Wycombe, also known as the Hellfire Club. A swirl of pipe tobacco, hot leather, ambergris, dark musk and the lingering incense smoke from their Black Mass.

WOW I got the leather correct!! Yeehaa! But the mint is a mystery. I love, love, love ambergris...so maybe that combined with the incense smoke makes a minty smell to me.   ???  (If you didn't know, ambergris is whale vomit. Thought I'd just toss that in for the minions) I am going to see if others got mint....YEP!
"im very confused - im not sure if the Hellfire imp i got in a swap is the new or the old, but its like neither, wearing it its alot like...stale doublemint gum. "
"Hmm,, sweet incense, honeyish, a little minty,"

Yay! I'm not crazy!

10 min: Mint's settling and it's getting muskier. Starting to love this. Heavenly!

About 4 hours later Hellfire was all musk and definitely a skin scent. So good!

Some of what I do

I just realized my About Me tells people that I decorate jean jackets and make wreaths yet I don't think I've ever posted my work.
Here's some pics:

Above is an American Indian themed jacket. My dad used to make indian Kachina dolls so he used to buy authentic indian items to make them. Then he ended up giving it all to me when he stopped making them. The striped cloth on the shoulder is an authentic indian trading blanket. The buffalo head was a refrigerator magnet from Walmart. LOL I tied and glued leather strips to it. I made the round leather medallion. He also had indian books and I got the color schemes from them. The bottom brown blobs is leather cut into bear claw shapes. What inspired me was that I found a handkerchief at my mother in law's amongst her craft things. I stole it (yeah I did!-she had so much crap she never missed it, plus when I told her later she just laughed and said to use it! use it!) The handkerchief had the indian on the horse that I put on the back. I cut it out and fused it onto the jacket. I also made the fringe for the arms. painted the stripes on the back, made all the danglies etc. There's deer hooves, trading beads, other beads, horsehair, etc. The white fur on the back shoulder is rabbit.

The other four jackets are just some that I went crazy on. LOL Click the pic to enlarge. I used cloth, beads, buttons, paints, pins, jewelry, fringe, bells, lace, appliques, sequins....anything that would glue to them.
I also have jackets with these themes: angels, butterflies, southwestern, Jimmy Buffet, reggae. tropical.
I want to make these themes: cats, dogs, horses, Christmas, birds, animal print, St. Patrick's Day, flowers, shopping,... the list goes on and on.....

Some of my wreaths:

Bpal blind pick

Gonna reach into the white boxes bought from sharkdiver on ebay.

Yew Berry Infused Honey

Honey colored! pffft!

First sniff in the vial it smells like a fountain soda pop just filled into a glass at a 1950's diner. I can feel the bubbles being sucked into my nose as I type.
Second sniff smells more musky That is so weird,  it doesn't smell anything like the first sniff. I am getting the yew. We have yew bushes in front of our house and I also grew up with them. They are piney and sharp smelling.
On the hand it's resiney, manly and sharp like the yews. I like it. I do smell some honey coming through also, but not much because it's not all that sweet, but it does mellow the yew out some. This would make the most magnificent candle. There's a floral in here too but I can't pinpoint it. I suck at identifying florals anyway so I don't know why I even try. LOL
As it dries it's getting lemony. Lemon bpal and Possets are some of my favorite smells, so this is a winner. What's in this?
Bah! There's no scent description. Here's some reviews:

*In the bottle this smells very bitter, but once I applied it on my skin it really changed into something beautiful. I get a little bit of evergreen (not much) and a touch of sweetness and a spiciness that I love in my oils. It does constantly change over time and mellows and I do find myself sniffing my arm time and time again. The honey/sweetness and evergreen fades completely on me and I am left with a simple light, gorgeous spicy scent. LOVE        (yay, she/he got the same thing I did)

* It opens up as a sweet, woody-resin scent, reminiscent of what you might get if you blended honey, evergreen, and myrrh together.

*I get a little bit of something like cool evergreen, but it's mostly a honeyed spice smell that's sort of like spiced cola on my skin at first. (YES! another cola reference!!)

Today I am making frog legs for lunch. I have some Andy's Cajun fish breading that I am going to use since I want them spicy. I like the lower parts of the legs better so I plan to split the thigh so they're thinner. Ever seen this? Thankfully mine are frozen and not fresh. Mine won't be doing this!

If I can remember to take pics I'll be back.

Oh, and Yew Berry IH has turned to all honey and spice. Loving it.

Morderteile Kelah - Darling Clandestine, WereRat-Infested Sewer - BPAL/BPTP

I put some of this on my wrist before work after smelling the bottle and liking it.

In the bottle it's sweet vanilla. Once it's on it has a punky smell. That's punky with a 'p'. Like lemon mixed with grapefruit mixed with musk. It's quite girly and fruity. The punky smell is odd and I think I like it...but not really sure! It's super punky at first then that fades as the day passes. Then it turns all sweet and syrupy. It's adorable!!! All day I kept getting wafts of this and

WereRat-Infested Sewer

which I had also put on the back of my hands. WereRat is odd too, but in a different way. Smoky. It's a huffer. I could smell this all day. It's so hard to describe how it smells. It's a prototype linen and room spray so I hope I can find a scent description. I want to know what's in this!! It's from the RPG series, so maybe they are already producing this. Don't know since I haven't looked it up. There's some resins in this but mainly it's a smoky dusty greenish floral. WOW! Nothing like I've smelled in any bpal before.

Here's the scent description for Morderteile:  Amber, hyacinth, milk and strawberry jam are just a few of the elements that capture Kelah. As if anyone ever could capture her completely. It's sweet and sultry and spicy and summery, brewed in a splash of double-barrel scotch, aged twelve years.

WereRat--YAY! THERE IS ONE! Moist, moss-crusted stone, stagnant, silty wastewater, wererat musk, and wet leather.

Smoky Rat!!  LOL
What is a wererat anyway?? A rat with fangs? pffft

Regardless, these are both keepers and I believe WereRat is a BIG BOTTLE WINNER!!!!
Clap!! Clap!! Clap!!  It's been a long time.

1 Hour later: Morderteile has just gotten better and sweeter, that's what I kept smelling all day. WereRat is lighter but still smells awesome too. Such a unique smell.

Nope. Not a wererat. pfffft

Huh?

What do you mean when you say I have a problem??

Mwahahahahahahaha!!!

The Brides of Dracula!!!!

mwahahahahahahaha !!! <<<that's supposed to sound scary

That's the bpal I've chosen to review right now. Not a blind pick.

BOOOO!!! (I hear some of you scream)

Light yellow in color. Nope not gold, there's no red in this. Amazing!

Medicinal in the vial. Kind of like that alcohol smell in hospitals. I also get something bright. On the hand it's floral.  It's mellowed after escaping the vial and wants to tame but it's not gonna. I'm no longer getting that medicinal scent. Smelling this just made me sneeze. Some flower is pretty strong here. Spicy, golden and bright are the adjectives that come to mind.
5 min: it's getting better! That floral is turning gorgeous and even though this is spicy it's very womanly. Like a dark haired Spanish dancer after a dance and the flowers in her hair and her musky sweat all combine making her essence both sensual and wildly exotic.

Oooo-la--lah!

Today I am making RouxBDoo's Creole Red Bean Stew. It's his post from June 10th--see his blog

Over there>>>>>>>>>

The only changes I will make is the Ro-tel tomatoes ( I actually don't like them, I find they make foods bitter and too tangy. I gave a whole case (minus one can) that I'd bought at Sam's Club to a co-worker when I decided I didn't like them. She was thrilled.) and the Tony Chachere's seasoning. I don't have any of that any more (used to) but I have so many other Cajun seasonings that I can use it's not even funny. Normally I'd use dried red beans but I didn't notice his recipe until today so I haven't soaked any so I will be using canned also. Oh! I am also going to use a beef broth instead of water. Don't know why, I just saw it in the pantry when I was gathering all this and decided to try it. I am also adding green pepper. I CANNOT MAKE RED BEANS AND RICE WITHOUT THE TRINITY!!!  hehe

Here's all the Cajun seasonings I have. I used to have even more but I purged my spices a couple months ago. I know the Creole Seasoning isn't for this dish so back into the cupboard it goes, along with Emeril and the Tone's. That middle one with the white label is Kitchen Witch's own personal blend. It's this old lady that owns a bookstore in New Orleans called the Kitchen Witch. I discovered it about the first or second year we went to NO and I always buy cook books from her. One year she had this Kitchen Witch Cajun seasoning so I bought it. I think that's the one I will use today. It's very salty so I will either not add any salt or adjust the salt way down. I also have bacon grease in a glass jar in my fridge. I use it when I make homemade refried beans. I add it to the mashed beans and it adds a lot of flavor. My mom taught me that, and Fatima Medina taught her that.

SO! I'm ready to cook!! Nope, my camera battery died. Will re-charge and be back in a bit!

PS The Brides of Dracula's fangs are gone. It's all sweet and florally with a hint of spice. What's in it??
Unquenchable desire, seething lust, malevolent sexuality, and voracious hunger lurking beneath a shimmering veil of unearthly beauty: gleaming skin musk, honey and white amber, plum blossom, osmanthus, sandalwood, calla lily, and a light, sensual blend of Eastern spices.

Now it will simmer a bit then be ready to eat with rice, sweet corn on the cob,  and thick cut Iowa pork chops on the grill!!

Whimsy

Who made up the English language? Who decided that some words were 'bad'. Who said the word fuck couldn't be spoken at all times? Can I make my own rules?? I've always wanted to outlaw the word 'desk'. It's offensive to me. So I say. So anyone saying this word is basically cussing in front of me. Tree. That's a cussword to me too so don't say it. I'm going to make a list of all offensive words and provide them to the Office Manager at work. Will they think I'm a little crazy? A little weird or messed up? Fuck'em. Don't give a shit. If some person WHO I DON'T KNOW gets to make up their own rules on what's acceptable to speak.....then I'm gonna do it too!

THE

I am outlawing the word 'the'! Don't say it. Don't write it. Don't even THINK about getting it close to me. I will fucking blow a gasket. Don't make me come after you!

Govern yourself!

(No, I didn't cuss at work nor brought into the HR office.
I just always wanted to write this post.....so I did!)
