Funny story

OMG I had to post this.
Last night we went out to eat at a Mexican restaurant. I ordered chicken flautas. It's shredded chicken with onions, green peppers, tomato and hot peppers placed onto flour tortilla then rolled up and deep fried. It's the first time I've ever had them and they are super good! I received three and had to bring
1 1/2 home because it was too much to eat.
So today I get them from the fridge and gave 1/2 of the half one to each dog.
So 1/4 of a whole one each. Ava, who doesn't like breads, proceeded to chew the meat out and left the small piece of tortilla on the floor between her legs. Stark, who likes breads, ate all of his. So I opened the whole flauta and dug the meat out and fed it to both dogs. Stark, I could tell, wanted the tortilla too, so I broke off pieces and fed it to him. When he was all done I pointed to Ava's tortilla still laying between her legs and said, "Ava has some", thinking she won't eat it, he might as well. Ava, who knows EVERYTHING we say, quickly darts and eats her tortilla!! bwahahahahahahah  OMG I am crying laughing at these crazy dogs I have. Even though she doesn't eat bread she sure as hell wasn't going to let him have it! Bwahahahahaha! Fricking funny dawgs. Gotta love them....LOL

This isn't a blind bpal pick, just one that I want to try because of it's deep color.

Cairo

I would love to go to Egypt (not right now) but it's always been a dream of mine. I always wanted to see the pyramids and the Sphinx. I was into pyramid power a long time ago. My dad ran across it when he opened a head shop. I had pyramids in my room that I'd put small glasses of milk under and sure enough they never spoiled! It was weird.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pyramid_power

This vial of Cairo is a beautiful reddish brown and dark and thick. Looks like molasses when I tilt the vial it moves so slow. I hope this is good.

I get somewhat of a rootbeer smell. Which reminds me, Missy!! I checked World Market last week  for Julmust and they didn't have any. I even asked a worker. Bah! I so wanted to try it. They did have some other ginger beers there but I didn't buy any.

Back to Cairo: I also smell some greenery amongst the beer. Wet on the hand this gets spicy. This is really different. I've never come across this smell in bpal before. Usually one bpal somewhat smells like another so I can cross reference but this is different. I smell spices. Like allspice or something to cook with that I can't pinpoint. I'm really liking it. It does remind me of incense too. It's not a deep smell either it's pretty lilty. A spicy flower. The rootbeer smell is gone.  I have to see what's in this! I love it!

The essence of holy Kyphi, beloved incense of the Egyptian Gods.

Hmm, not much of a description, eh? Most get lemongrass, yes I can see that in this. It still smells like a spice to cook with, I may have to dig out my indian spices and see if any fit the bill.

A keeper and a big bottle winner too. Yum!

Blind Pick!

Blind pick

Silk Road

Have never even heard of this one yet. Gold in color. Somewhat nondrecript in the vial. Wet on my hand it seems lightly musky. I smell cinnamon too. There's something in this I don't care for. It smells mediciney with a plastic smell. Not sure I like this. I do like the cinnamon but the rest smells kind of icky. Mold's coming out now. Ack, what's in this? A panoply of cultural treasures, spanning the herbs, flowers, oils and balms of the Romans, the Byzantines, the Mediterranean, the Levant, Northern China, Eastern Europe, Iran, the Bulgar-Kypchak, Mesopotamia, the Crimean Peninsula, Anatolia, Antioch, and North Africa.

What's up with all the non scent descriptions bpals I've been reviewing lately? Seems like most of the reviwers on bpal like it, maybe my vial has turned? I'll have to see if this gets better as it soaks into my skin but so far I don't have much hope.
I kept reading the reviews and the reviews from page one are so different from page three....with more people not liking it as the oil aged.

http://www.bpal.org/topic/12460-silk-road/

There were far more good reviews when the oil was first released compared to later. On some the scent disappeared after a few hours but I can tell mine isn't going to do that. In fact I bet in 8 hours I will still smell it on my hand.
Into the give away box it goes. If it changes into something good I will be back to say that. Don't hold your breath. LOL

Edit: Some 5 hours later. Okay this turned nice.  Sultry on the skin but it did fade! I was wrong on both points. Still not a big bottle winner.

Blizzard's gone

We made it to work but neither work had power so after 3 hours hubby picked me up and we went shopping!! (He works up the street from me-how convenient! Said like The Church lady)

We went to Sam's Club and nabbed up a bunch of reduced beef. That's the only way to buy beef--reduced! I worked in grocery the first 14 years of my working life. The last 5 I also worked in the meat department. Soooooooo $215.00 later...okay okay I also bought some Pinot Grigio-and I'm not even a wine drinker....but Drew Barrymore makes her own now so I wanted to try some.
We've also been buying the dogs some christmas presents..SSSSHHHHHH...big bags of beef jerky, new harnesses, smoked bones, meatballs and new squeak toys that state they are INVINCIBLE! That's right --they keep squeaking even when punctured.....!! We SO need that! There's only been about 5 out of the hundreds of squeak toys we've bought that have kept squeaking. These are long caterpillars that have 8 squeakers each. So we'll see!
I've been singing to the dawgs for the last couple of weeks, especially Santa Claus is Coming To Town. They love that song and get all excited.
When I sing the part where it says "He knows if you've been bad" I point at Stark. When I sing the part " Or good" I point at Ava. Fricking dawgs love it. LOL !

Yeah, we're weird.

I made homemade enchiladas today. Shredded beef. I even made the enchilada sauce. It's so good! The third time I've made this sauce instead of using the canned sauce.

This is from Mexican Made Easy on the Food Channel:

Ingredients

24 guajillo chiles, stemmed, seeded and deveined
4 cloves garlic, peeled
1/2 medium white onion, peeled
1 vine ripened tomato, boiled 30 seconds, peeled and seeded
Salt and freshly ground black pepper
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 bay leaf

Directions
In a large saucepan over medium-high heat, place 4 cups water, the guajillo chilies, garlic cloves and white onion and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat to simmer until the chiles are soft and tender, about 25 minutes. Transfer the boiled vegetables, the tomato and 2 cups of the boiling liquid to a large blender and set aside to cool before blending. Process until smooth. Season with 1 teaspoon salt and a pinch of black pepper.

In a medium, heavy saucepan, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Strain the pureed guajillo salsa into the pan. Add the bay leaf and simmer until thickened, about 10 minutes. Taste for seasoning, adding additional salt and pepper as desired.

Reserve for enchiladas and pork.

Cook's Note: For ease of preparation, you can use 2 store-bought, canned whole tomatoes, seeded, in place of 1 fresh, boiled tomato.

I DID use canned tomatoes this time since tomatoes are out of season here.
This is SO good!
I cooked some beef ribs (no bones) in some water flavored with chicken granules, minced onion, minced garlic, a pinch of cumin and a bay leaf, salt and pepper. Cooked them until they were falling apart easily. I made sure the beef was well seasoned, I didn't want it bland.
Then I cooked some chopped jalapeno pepper, chopped green pepper and chopped onion in some oil until soft, then added some cream cheese and mozzarella. Cooked it until blended. I dipped some tortillas in the enchilada sauce, spread the cream cheese on half of the tortilla, then topped with the meat and rolled them and placed into a casserole dish. Made 5 of those and topped them with the enchilada sauce, baked at 350 for 20 minutes then topped with shredded cheddar cheese and baked another 10 minutes.

I'm in the mood for a blind pick.....

Fire For Thy Stepmother's Daughters

WTF? Another weird named bpal. Light in color. Light yellow.
Floral and lemony in the vial. This ebay seller must not have liked lemon bpals because this is the second one from this box from the same seller. The last one, Santa Eularia Des Riu, that was lemon was freaking awesome.
Not so lemony now that's it's wet on my hand. More fruity. I like it. Fruity bubblegum. Kind of feminine too. Girly. I was kinda expecting smoky, or fiery or dragon's blood, but this is far from any of those. I am getting a citrus but faint. I like this a lot. Big bottle for sure. If I can find one. What's in this?
Flaming coals, hellfire, and blackened bone.

Nope, it's not that at all. Even other reviewers get: This goes on like a fruity floral, almost like lotus. If I sniff up close I can tell there's some fire and coals to the scent, but for whatever reason, my brain translates it into dusky, fruity floral. It's a little spicy, too, which becomes more apparent as it dries. How in the world does that fit this scent, given the notes, you might ask? Well, it works. It's a low and smoldering scent, very subtle but definitely 'there'. I'm sure this will vary from person to person, though (it might be really strong to someone else). But for me, it's subtle. Even though it's very floral, it has the mood of glowing coals.Still, it's mostly a sweet, fruity-floral thing.

I can see how it might dry down into a smoky scent. I am loving this as it dries. It's fruity, sensual and smoky. I have to get a big bottle of this one. This is crazy good. Very unique. Definitely not something you'd find in an over the counter scent, so this would be unique to wear. I'd expect people to ask what I was wearing with this one. Going into my top ten faves for now.

Blizzard!!

Yeah! Happening right now. I'm all ready for work but waiting for hubby so we can ride together. I was up at 5:45 pushing 8 inches of snow off our 4 wheel drive pickup. It's heavy snow too. Ack.
Travel is not recommended but that doesn't stop Iowans! We LIVE for this crap. Well, I do anyway. LOL

Finally!

I finally got some citric acid. I had to buy from a different seller because I haven't received the first stuff I ordered. I emailed the seller and she/he ignored me and I had to email again 4 days later. They say their Post office doesn't scan their items in. uh huh. It was supposed to be here December 4th or 5th. Me thinks I'm gonna hafta file a claim to get my money back.
But now I can make my bath bombs! I'm so excited!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I wish I could make a happy face emoticon.....   :) Guess the excessive exclamation points will have to do.
I found this on youtube the other day. It's 3 hours of Christmas songs!!

I love it! Da bomb!

I can tell ya though. I LOVE White Phoenix by BPAL. Love it Love it Love it. It turns into this sandalwoody elegance as the day goes on.
Sorry Missy Hype Girl (where's that Sisi??  :) ) that I don't have Lick It. I'm surprised i don't. I will see if i can find it on Ebay and win it. :)

Blind pick!!

Whoso List To Hunt

Hassasawhassawhat? WTF? Who comes up with these names. ? Freaking me out.
Gonna be a keeper. I can tell that already wet on the back of my hand.
The lightest yellow in color.
Vetiver?? I get that sunflower seed smell. But nice. Maybe an amber or golden musk? A light rotten smell that's actually quite interesting and not at all off putting. Seems like there's a fruit here too. Mango? Peach? Something sticky sweet. What's in this?

Sensual brown musk, rich amber, English rose, oak bark, and moss.

Wow! I was pretty close. I didn't look either, I swear on my dawgs' lives. I think the rose mixing with the moss is what's giving that rotten smell. The rose is actually coming out more as it dries down. No wonder I like this. I love rose. I'm not a moss lover tho. It's a keeper. Possible big bottle winner, but i will need to wear it to work to see how it plays all day.

Have you seen this?? Click on it, you'll love it. I PROMISE. Cross my heart, hope to die, stick a needle in my eye.

Later: This turns all musky ambery. Truly heady and delightful. A Skin scent as all get out.

Later Later: Absolutely awesome scent. Amber turbocharged with musk on smell down. This is a scent you'll want to stroke along your neckline. It's sturdy, sultry, sexy.
Wet, I still get that sunflower seed smell. I like that. This seems egyptian, ethiopian, asian. Peppery. smooth, undulating.

I love Debauchery. Peace out.

Another BPAL blind pick from the 300+ imps I have that I've never smelled. I know......it's addiction, don't judge.  ;)

Psyche!!

No really. That's the name of the bpal.   <smirk>  Where's my hype girls? It's been a while.

This has no color, it's clear.

In the vial and wet on the hand it's kind of mediciney.....which I normally don't like, but this doesn't seem too bad.....yet anyway. I smell pine or moss, or green-ness. Maybe some vetiver. Spearmint. KIND OF, but NOT. yeah, minty...must be the pine.
I'm listening to this right now.

I also like this one:

I like Psyche. Let's see what's in it. The tale of Cupid and Psyche is both a perfect love story and an allegory for the soul's search to reunite with Deity. This is the scent of true love, your heart's deepest, purest desires. Bulgar rose, Chinese white musk, lavender, orchid and frankincense.

I was so effing wrong!! Ha!! OMG I just realized. WHAT A PSYCHE! Too fucking funny!! I've been HAD!

This would be good as a room spray or in my oil burner. I do like it on too though. Not a big bottle winner but I like it.

Bah! I still don't have my citric acid. I do have the fillable xmas balls though, to make my bath bombs.

Blind pick

Ironic, considering it's Christmas

Santa Eularia Des Riu

That's beautiful sounding, what's that mean??

Oh, wikipedia says it's a town

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Santa_Eul%C3%A0ria_des_Riu

Light yellow in color....nah, maybe a medium yellow....

Lemon!! I can tell I like this already! This reminds me of Posset's Naples Yellow but this seems creamier. This might be a contender for Posset's Limoncello Rosmarino too! I will have to see what this dries down into. Crazy good though. Tart, heavy lemon. Not even close to smelling like lemon furniture polish. So GOOD!

What's in this?  Piquant citrus tempered by jasmine, soft Mediterranean herbs, lavender and orange blossom.

No wonder I love it. I like all of the above except for lavender, but I only dislike lavender if it's too strong. In this it isn't.

This is Da Bomb. LOVE IT! BIG BOTTLE WINNER for sure!! 5 big bottles!! 10!!

Free purse/handbag!!

Went shopping today. I have our Office manager for Secret Santa. So we went to Gordman's to find 5x7 picture frames. We found a bunch of other things also, two shirts for Jeff, some peacock colored christmas decorations (I plan to make a peacock colored wreath soon), and a bunch of other stuff. As we walked by the purses I saw one made with long fur. I had to stop. I looked it over. The straps were the right length, it zipped and had several smaller pockets, plus the inside zippered pocket and cell phone pocket. Plus it was big. I like being able to get an umbrella in my purses, plus all the crap I carry. So I looked and it was 49.99. Sigh. Jeff said I could have it as a birthday present. SCORE! It's a Kathy Vanzeeland too, and has a cute 4 heart charms hanging off of it. So we head to the check out, and after the casier was done she took a scratch off card from a deck of them she had. Evidently you get to scratch it off after buying everything to see if you won 10%, 35%, 50% or 100% off your highest item. So she is scratching it off for us and it said 100%. I got the purse for free!!!!

Yippee Skippy!!  LOL

Bath fizzy bombs!

I am a bath ho. Some of you know that already.

So I am addicted to Lush, BPAL, Moonalisa etc. Lush bath bombs are pretty pricey even in a Lush store. When I go to New Orleans I hit the Lush on Decatur and spend well over 100.00 bucks every time. I also get some Lush on ebay, but the shipping is a killer since the products tend to be heavy. I also found a seller on ebay that makes homemade bath bombs and sells them at a nice price. I have bought 23 from her so far....got the second box of them today. Xmas gifts mainly.
Here's her website. http://www.ibeautygifts.com/
No, I do not know her! She just makes hellish bath bombs for $1.35 each and they are big too! Smell great and since she uses oils and butters in them my skin is really soft and moisturized. I have 4 of her soaps too and have purchased a second bar of the African Violet soap.
So...I have decided to make them myself. Scented with all the bpals that I have. Since I use a bath bomb for every bath I figure it's a good way to use my bpals since I will NEVER use them all in my lifetime.
So I've been watching youtube videos on how to make them. I have no desire to sell them. I could never anyway because my dawgs shed (plus the 4 cats) so much I couldn't guarantee that they wouldn't have a hair or two in them. I wouldn't even be able to give them away for fear of that. LOL Sad isn't it. Maybe if I was immaculate, but I'm not and refuse to be. My mom was and I think it made her crazy. ROFLMAO!!!
Today arrived the raw cocoa (cacao) butter, kaolin clay and I bought a 13 lb bag of baking soda from Sam's Club. Now I just need to wait for the citric acid, clear fillable xmas balls, and witch hazel to arrive. I think I will also be purchasing shea butter, other butters, and some oils like grapeseed and sweet almond. I'm so excited! What excites me the most is I can make them with my fave bpal fragrance and make them as heavily scented as I want!
I'm gonna be the best smelling bitch on the block!!

I'll keep you all advised on how I do.....If I had the citric acid I could make some today but alas....

The cocoa butters are in the shape of little rounds the size of a quarter and smell really good. So I took one out and it melts in my palm. So cool. My Ava dawg has really dry pads on her feet and she tends to slip on the vinyl floor so I rubbed some into the pads of her feet. Freaking dawg loved it. She even lifted up her last back foot so I could get to it. ROFL  I think it's going to absorb better than people lotion does and also I am not afraid if she licks this stuff either. So WIN WIN!

I wore The Little matchGirl to work yesterday. Bpal. LOVE IT. It kept getting better and better as the day went on. Super feminine smelling.

I'm in the mood to brine a chicken. Haven't really done that yet but for some reason it's been brought to my attention several times in the last couple months so I think it's like a hint from God or sumpin. Either my brother brings it up or Guy Fieri makes one on his show, or it's on another Food Network cooking show......it's just being pushed at me....so I figure I'm gonna do it. I mean, who am I to not heed a God hint, right?

Since I haven't done a blind bpal oil lately, let's do one.

Queen

Knew Bpal had several oils with Queen in the name...Pumpkin Queen, Queen Alice, The Red Queen, Queen of Sheba etc etc...didn't know they had one named just QUEEN. (Wasn't that a hellish rock group tho??!!)

Light yellow in color.
In the vial it seems citrusy but wet on the skin it isn't. Do I detect vetiver....just a slight hint? It seems kind of creamy, sunflower seed smell, floral, yeah, there's a citrus here too it seems. Seems royal too. I don't know if it's just the name influencing that thought or not....but it does seem rather regal....like a Queen would wear this.  I can't really pinpoint any specific ingredient in this. It's complex and hard to define.

What's in this?
For use only by women. An extremely potent passion blend, used to great effect when you're converting feminine sexual energy into power.

Bah! No scent description. Go here to read the reviews:

http://www.bpal.org/topic/4946-queen/

Some got that regal royal feeling too! Now I feel smug. Snort. Like Sheldon on Big Bang Theory.

After all that tech talk let's get to the real discussion. QUEEN!!!
