Chillin time....

My younger brother turned 50 - 4 days ago. My brother is a tormentor. He tells stories and if you believe them, then that's even better. He's a bullshitter. To me -he's hilarious. I get him. He's also a freaking awesome cook. He can make anything-Cajun, southern, cakes, breakfast, Mexican, Chinese....the list goes on. He's so funny I think he'd do good at being a standup comedian.

My older brother is a fairly good cook too. I've ate his food and everything has been  so good. I just haven't ate any of his food for about 40 years. I do know I have some of his recipes and still make them today.

This is his chicken recipe. You need to like dark meat chicken and heat. If you use white meat, it will be dry. Don't even subject yourself to that. Come to the other side....

8 pieces of chicken, I like using thighs
  • 1/2 stick butter
  • 2 tblsp onion powder
  • 2 tsp garlic salt
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbls Accent (msg) (optional)
  • 1/4 tsp curry powder (I use Penzey's Hot Curry)
  • 1/2 tblsp cayenne pepper
  • Sprinkle of ground ginger

  • Directions

    1. Melt the butter in a 10-12 inch skillet. I use my cast iron. Add seasonings and saute until they brown on medium heat.
    2. Add chicken and turn to low. Flip chicken occasionally. When the chicken is almost thoroughly cooked, remove the chicken and drain the oil from the pan, retaining the seasonings.
    3. Put chicken back in pan and cook until the meat is 165 degrees. You can do this in the oven too. 350 for 1/2 hour. (gotta make sure chicken is cooked thoroughly)

The spices get compacted and brown in the pan. It makes a really good gravy if you're that adventurous........ Make a heaping mound of buttery mashed potatoes. It's a spicy reddish brown.

    Something like 25 minutes later....

I just fell over backwards and fell asleep. Sorry.

    Joke

WHAT'S BIG AND RED AND EATS ROCKS?!

    A BIG, RED ROCK EATER!

    Friday, May 9, 2014

I ate so many in the shell sunflower seeds yesterday that my tongue has a canker sore on the tip.

I was about run off the road and into a telephone pole yesterday morning in Loo-Cee.

My cat loves it when the dawgs go outside because he flies through the kitchen into the living room then proceeds to lay on his back. He'll lay like that until they come in.

When I'm in a crowd I am always the one that gets bit by mosquitos most often. Unless my husband is there, then he's the magnet. I take him to outdoor parties and lie to him that it's because I want his company. He's not much of a 'party dude'. Don't tell him or I'll have to kill you. I mean about the lie, not that he isn't much of a 'party dude', he knows that.

Dr. Oz had a segment a few months ago about 'Most embarrassing questions' . One woman named Alexis in the audience stood up and asked why does she get vagina acne. She had a name for it too. Vacne.
    http://www.doctoroz.com/video-series/dr-ozs-most-embarrassing-questions
I'm thinking she really should have kept this to herself and now needs to become a nun or sumpin, because who's gonna fuck Alexis now? Maybe some blind dude.

I swear the neighborhood kids sound just like cats when they scream. I always go looking for my cat to make sure he's okay and then realize it's outside. Neighbor kids suck.

He's upside down right now behind me. Yep, the dawgs are outside.

Sometimes the neighbor kids ride their bikes through our yard. I take it for so long then yell at them out the front door at the top of my voice, "Puta! Permanecer fuera de mi patio!!" Yeah they're Spanish and don't speak English. Works every time. Until the next year.... then I have to break the new ones in.

We went shopping the other day and my husband forgot his phone in the car while we shopped. No biggie. Then Sunday he drove Loo-Cee to the store (even though he's cramped in her) and forgot his phone in her. I found it Monday morning when I went out to go to work and brought it in. Then today he calls me from work and said he left his phone at home and to call him at the work landline number if I needed him.  He's NEVER without his phone. Should I be worried? Is this how Alzheimer's starts!?

He just asked me if I'd itch his nuts. Do other husbands say that? Ever? Even in jest?

Even though I'm not a hypochondriac, there's a long list of diseases I think I have. I won't bore you with them. No one but Kevin would understand them anyway.

My husband overfeeds the dawgs snacks because it make him feel good. It doesn't matter that Ava has bad hips and is 35lbs overweight, she's got strong upper arms legs. I tried to explain the psychology to him why he's 'The SnackGiver', but it doesn't stick with him. He bought me a package of Oreos yesterday. He sucks but is so sweet!

I had the package of Oreos on the back of the couch. I accidently pushed them off and now they are lost forever between the wall and the couch. Well, at least until I get a hankering for them and dig them out. What's a little dawg hair among Oreos?

    Bah! It's been so long!!!

Been busy today!! I converted the 'cat litter' room into a pantry. Now that we're down to one cat I got rid of 3 of the 4 litter boxes we had in a spare bedroom. I had the pantry in another spare bedroom (oh the joys of not having children) but I also use it for my dressing room and it was too crowded. I have a double bar clothes rack in there also. So now, not only can I get around my clothes now, but I have easier access to the pantry! I'm so loving it!

The 2 shelving units used to be along that melon wall. Now I moved the rack over and have more room on both sides. woot I still need to go through the clothing and organize it. I feel cleansed!! LOL I also need to clean the black blinds in the pantry room because they have litter dust all over them. Gross. I may have to take them down and spray them in the drive.  All the boxes behind the clothing are full of die cast Nascar cars. OMG I wish he'd sell them. <sigh> At least he's stopped buying them. He won't store them in the basement either because he's afraid of the humidity and also if the basement floods. <still sighing> I want the sun to come in through the windows that are buried by boxes. unwoot

    Blind oil pick:

    Haus of Gloi- La Florida

In the vial: Slight yellow tinge. Ooo, limey and something else. Something minty, or piney or eucalyptussy. Yeah, I make up words.

On the hand: There's also something kind of 'off' in this. Like bandaids or rot. LOL I'm loving the limeaid. It's dense and bright, but then that rot smell comes out and eh, not so much. I wonder what that is. I hope I can find a description of this. As a few minutes go by either I'm getting immune to the rot or it's going away. I hope it's the latter. I think it's a flower. It's a sweet dead smell.

What's in this? (Yay, they have a facebook page)
A breath of fresh florals, bergamot, ylang ylang, lavender, violet leaf, rose absolute, orange blossoms, lemon zest and a touch of clove.

Hmm....it's got to be the ylang ylang because bergamot is also an orange smell. Probably more like a combo of the lavender, clove and ylang ylang. I detest lavender so I'm glad this isn't overwhelmed with that. Ylang ylang can also smell like rubber and now that I really smell this, that's it. Icky rubber though.
    NOT a big bottle winner.

20 minutes later: Yuck! I had to wash it off because it was killing me!!

    Amy Schumer

Thank you Ellen for having her on your show the other day. I'd never heard of her before and after seeing her on the show and she was SO FUNNY! I decided to DVR Amy's show Inside Amy Schumer. Oh. My. God. The show is crazy good. I also stumbled over one of her stand up acts that was on TV. So now I am obsessed with her and am youtubing all of her stuff!!

She's cute, raunchy and the funniest comedienne I have ever seen. I told Jeff if she comes to Des Moines, we're going! I'd even travel a few hours to see her. I checked her tour dates and it looks like it's gonna be a while before she is any where near us. Bah!

I am making stuffed green peppers today. I used hot sausage, ground beef, ground pork, minute rice, shredded mozzarella cheese with some of my homemade spaghetti sauce. I didn't add an egg this time. I found that the meat sticks together with or without the egg so why use it? My mom taught me to use soda crackersas a binder, but over the years I decided I liked minute rice (uncooked) in them better. She never made stuffed peppers, it was her meatball recipe. Which is basically what you stuff the peppers with.  I will try to remember to take some pics.

They are messy!! The sauce shoots plumes all over my stovetop and backsplash. Bah!!

They think they're lap dogs. Stark especially. He's 'The Leaner'.

The spaghetti sauce with the stuffed peppers. I am making rotini noodles to go with this. I like the way the sauce sticks to the rotini, and it's toothsome. Plus I can scoop a big spoonful and get a big bite! That's why I'm fat! Okay, not the main reason I'm fat....but one of'em! :)

Time for a Nocturne Alchemy review.

    Shadow Amber Venom

Knowing I LOVE NA's Cobra Venom I knew I had to have this. In the bottle it is mostly patchouli. It reminds me of New Orleans too. Deep and dark and holding a lot of secrets. It smells like the voodoo shops I browse in New Orleans. Pungent, hippy, and incense. I am loving this already.

On the wrist it's the same. Green, sharp, and unrelenting. Jeff with absolutely hate this. But I....I love it!!
What's in this?  Shadow Amber, Black Amber Resin, Nokturne: Hessonite (Egyptian Patchouli), Black Sandalwood, Black Temple NA Incense, Black Vanilla & Black Myrrh Resin.

OMG, everything I love...myrrh, sandalwood, amber, vanilla...the only thing it's missing is frankincense.
NA knocked it out of the ballpark again!

    More on Lou Lou's

When I received my Lou Lou's order she gave me a lot of samples of her products. One of the items was a small plastic container with flip lid of a solid perfume called Princesses and Playtime. I put some on earlier and it's morphed into this feminine, wispy fragrance.

It started out lemony. Which I love and she didn't even know I love lemon scents. As it melts into my skin it's become sugary, sweet, vanilly happiness! I love it! So far I've loved every single thing I've bought and all the freebies she gave me. Let me see what's in this....

This is a fruity, feminine blend of fresh raspberry, blackberry, strawberry, pomegranate, mandarin, grapefruit, lime, and fresh cut green grass with a touch of bamboo over a base of vanilla musk.

Lime! I was close and I nailed the vanilla....well kinda....LOL The musk smooths out the tartness of the citrus, this is perfect. Very springy, fresh and bright. The musk continues to get stronger, even though the fruit does not take the back stage. This solid perfume is going to be awesome after a bath because it's kind of like a massage bar. Creamy and adding moisture to the skin.

Evelyn's got me addicted to her products. Shame on her, doing that to an innocent bystander. Pffft

    I smell so good!! :)
You can buy her stuff here.             Lou Lou's

She always has coupons too and she is generous with her samples. She says she is going to start making the solid perfume so I am going to have to get a bunch. This Princesses and Playtime solid smells as strong now as it did an hour ago when I put it on. Me's likin' some solids!
